President and CEO
Following her own very personal experience as a parent through gestational surrogacy in 1990, Darlene first served as a contract coordinator with the law office of Thomas Pinkerton. She learned about the legal aspects of egg donation and surrogacy while coordinating documentation for intended parents, donors, and surrogates during the legal contract stages. Darlene started to successfully connect high-profile clients with egg donors and surrogates in 1998—and did so with absolute confidentiality. In 2000, Darlene left the law office to become the founder and CEO of A Perfect Match, Inc. (APM). APM has since helped bring more than 1000 babies into the world through the egg donor and gestational surrogacy programs. Darlene is committed to providing personalized, caring, and ethical services to intended parents, donors, and surrogates.
As articulate with the media as she is empathetic with her clients, Darlene has appeared on “Today,” CNN and MSNBC programs, the BBC documentary "Modern Times: The Price of Eggs,” numerous German and French documentaries, and other television and radio programs about surrogacy and egg donation. Darlene has been interviewed for articles in The New Yorker, New York Times, Los Angeles Times, Newsweek, and Self, among other publications. She is the mother of Kaitlin, born through surrogacy in 1990 (graduated UCLA and USC) and Ty (also a USC graduate) who lived to be 43—the longest living lung recipient from a living donor (Darlene!). But that's another story...
The CEO of A Perfect Match, Inc., Darlene works full time and is in charge of the day to day operations. She recently committed her own personal resources to purchasing and thoroughly rehabilitating a building to create a unique and comfortable space where intended parents can come and feel like they are more than a number... where surrogates can drop by and find camaraderie among their peers...and where donors can meet the staff who help them through the journey.
The daughter of Darlene and Tom Pinkerton, Kaitlin was carried by a gestational surrogate and born in 1990. She is only the third child in the world to be born through gestational surrogacy. We love seeing the happiness she brings to our clients when they meet her in person and ask her about how she feels being a child of surrogacy. Kaitlin’s positive view of her creation is also appreciated by surrogates who can meet a positive and happy woman and see that surrogacy really can make a difference in the life of the parents and the children they help bring into the world.
Rose Lucero Pinkerton
Director of Surrogacy Program
Having worked in the egg donation and surrogacy field since 2004, Rose came to APM in 2005, working first in the egg donation program and then as director of the gestational surrogate program in 2008. Rose is a five-time gestational surrogate who has given birth to twins, a singleton, twins and two more singletons! She claims to be officially retired as a surrogate, but we don’t believe her! Rose’s personal experience and years working in the surrogate program brings a unique level of experience to A Perfect Match as she selects surrogate candidates and manages a cycle.
Rose is passionate about working with the gestational surrogate program, knowing how much joy this relationship can bring to families and surrogates. She personally interviews each surrogate, visits most of them in their homes, and accepts only those surrogates she believes have a genuine commitment to helping a family. Once a surrogate match is made Rose or one of her case managers attends each local embryo transfer and brings a special care package for the surrogate to enjoy during her bed rest.
Rose is not only a valuable support to our surrogates but—thanks to her years of experience in this field she is an indispensable support and resource for our intended parents. Rose understands how difficult it can be on a family if they can’t attend the surrogate’s appointments, so she and her team make sure the parents are informed of the outcome after each appointment of our surrogates. Rose works closely with all our families, from the time they contact us through the birth of the child/children—and she especially enjoys meeting the precious little ones brought into the world through her surrogates.

Former CFO/COO. His 15 years of employment significantly impacted the development of A Perfect Match and the lives of those he touched. A Perfect Match is dog friendly, and we welcome employees’ dogs at our office. In fact, we created a dog room complete with beds. In our side yard they can run and play while employees have lunch and breaks. But if you’re not a dog person, don’t worry—we keep them separated from clients, and you will meet them only if you want to - but we hope you will because they are lovely animals and bring joy to the staff.
